Hi

I will like to know if there's a way to add an option for shipping which will be set to 0.00 ( no charge) where the customer can input their own UPS or FedEx account numbers- bill third party option. I couldn't find anything related to this anywhere/

Thanks in advance

Joe

Hi Joe, it's not really a built in feature, but you can setup price, or weight based shipping and make it show at no charge and give it any name you like.
However, you would have no method to force them to enter their shipper account number in conjunction with this.
You can add a form field to the cart address entry asking for their shipper account number though.

My personal thoughts on shipping on 3rd party accounts - I know every business is different, but personally we don't encourage this as the charges can be reversed. For UPS, you have size months to reverse charges and they will get billed to your account if this happens.
We had a customer reverse a bunch of overnight shipments right at the six month mark and I had to fight like crazy with UPS to fix it.
We now make customers provide shipping labels if they insist on controlling the shipment.

Thanks,
David

Thank you for your advice David. Didn't think of that, it makes a lot a sense, they can even input a fake a/c #.
I was thinking on doing this for a number of resellers/repeat customers that have accounts with us. Maybe it will be a better idea to make their login accounts Shipping exempt and ask them for the shipping a/c# and keep it on file for their orders. This way nothing is exposed to the general public or one time customers where these situations could easily happen.

Have a good one!

Hi Joe, I think that's a great idea and this way you only do it for established customers.
Fortunately UPS generally puts these charges at the bottom of your invoice so it's easier to spot if you have one charged back to you.

Thanks,
David
