Hi,

I'd like to make my static php 'About Us', 'Contact Us' and similar type static pages pages into Article pages.

Is there a way for me to make the Article pages without having to assign them to a category?

Or is there a workaround to prevent an Article category showing up on the category page?
It doesn't really make sense to have 'Contact Us', for example, assigned to any product category.

Thanks,

Steve

Thanks Steve - yes, I already have some Articles set up having used Gary's post but my real issue is I can't quite see how to set up an Article without having to attach it to a category which will then appear on the categories page.

BTW the static pages I have already transferred to Articles have achieved substatially better SEO ranking already, probably due to the markup, so I am thinking this is the way to go with all my static informational pages eventually.

Answer: No.
My suggested method is to add a menu Category named "About Us".
In there you can add "Is Article" pages like ...

> Website Security and Privacy Policy
> How to Order
> Warranty and Returns Procedure
> History of ABC Ltd
> Contact ABC Ltd

Those pages will then appear in website search results, whereas previously your static pages would not.

Thanks Gary, that’s what I thought. I’ll workaround it as you suggest.

You can add custom css to any category now so that gives you the ability to hide it.
If you need an example let me know.

Perfect - thanks Phil.

I'd forgotten categories now had classes - works a treat.
