I am currently using PayPal Payflow Pro but am also using fraud filters built into PayPal.com that are not part of Manager. These are ending this month and it was recommended to start using PayPal Payments Advanced. Would this simply be a matter of setting up Advanced as shown in the payment providers help files and disabling Payflow Pro?

Hi Mark
Yes, that's pretty much the case. But have you considered PayPal Checkout as that seems to be where PayPal are heading with their future developments?

I have not and am not familiar with the differences between them. I am supposed to get a call from a PayPal rep and will ask. The email I received stated "we recommend that you change your checkout option to another PayPal checkout, such as PayPal's Advanced Checkout or Braintree , and then select a new risk tool for the selected checkout."

PayPal was having trouble switching my account from PayPro Flow to Advanced so decided to try setting up the business again with a different login. When done I went into payment providers and tried disabling PayPal PlayFlow Pro and Express Checkout and enabling PayPal Advanced. I believe I have the info filled in as instructed however there was no manager account mentioned with the new login. Are the instructions under PayPal Manager Settings needed? I tried a transaction and got "User authentication failed" so switched back to the original payment methods for now.

Hi Mark
I really am getting the idea that PayPal Payments Advanced is no longer supported by PayPal. Are you sure you haven't been given the credentials for another system such as PayPal Checkout? Would it be an idea to try the login you have been given with PayPal Checkout to see if it works?

If that is so they are clearly not telling their employees that. The agent who set up a new login referred me to an integration specialist but he was unfamiliar with my specific shopping cart. He set up a Microsoft Teams meeting and had me try some different changes to answers in the Advanced module (almost like he was trying to get it working with the original PAYFLOW PRO credentials) but that of course did not work. He took a look at something and mentioned the new account seemed to be set up on a new platform he did not think ECommerceTemplates supported and asked if I had anyone he could contact from the company. Is there a specific contact I can send him?

PayPal sent a reply today that they copied you on so hopefully that will provide some insight. In the meantime I disabled all countries outside of the USA and only have the continental US states enabled in the shipping admin so that should prevent my needing to refund orders outside that area.

Is PayPal Checkout this one here listed as PayPal Advanced? - https://www.ecommercetemplates.com/help/ecommplus/paypal-advanced.asp

If not which one is it please?

One of my US clients has been informed their current PayPal Direct Integration will no longer have available fraud filters.

I've forwarded the email to you
